!Nada! is the second album by the French-Swiss band Factice Factory. This CD confirms all the good elements that are said about their debut. Originally, The White Days was a cassette on Wool-E-Tapes, later a CD came out. Now, !Nada! is a self-released CD in a limited edition (150 copies). Being quick is recommended.

!Nada! takes us right back to the 80s. The sound reminds me of Lebanon Hanover, that other half-Swiss band that makes a mix of cold wave, minimal wave and post-punk. Perhaps Factice Factory is not very original, it beautifully melts the sound of Trisomie 21 with The Cure.

Tonband begins with a rhythm section that is reminiscent to Pornography and is enriched with female voices. During Mask (feat. Lisette Schoenly), the male vocals are in French and the female vocals are in English. Just like on the debut album, the vocals are in German, English and French, which both benefits the atmosphere and the variation.

The music sounds varied too. Slow songs like L'Aurore and The Owles are interspersed with a track as Lodged, that has catchy synths and will do well on the dance floor.

Factice Factory made another strong record. A delicious propulsive bass (think of Simon Gallup), cold synths and lots of atmosphere. A dark and at times even claustrophobic atmosphere. Are you wondering if Factice Factory also can impress on stage? Then go to Kortrijk on 1st May for the Wool-E-Day, where the band plays with Hidden Treetops and the post-punk revelation Whispering Sons.

!Nada! is het tweede album van de Frans-Zwitserse band Factice Factory. Met !Nada! bevestigt Factice Factory al het goede dat reeds over z'n debuut is geschreven. The White Days werd aanvankelijk op een cassette door Wool-E-Tapes uitgebracht, later volgde een cd in eigen beheer. Ook !Nada! wordt nu in eigen beheer uitgebracht in een beperkte oplage (150 exemplaren). Haast en spoed is zelden goed, maar het is in dit geval wel een aanrader. !Nada! voert ons regelrecht terug naar de jaren 80. Daarom doet Factice Factory me denken aan Lebanon Hanover, die andere half-Zwitsere band die uitpakt met een mix van cold wave, minimal wave en postpunk. Factice Factory is misschien niet bijster origineel, wel bijzonder goed en brengt mooi het geluid van Trisomie 21 met The Cure samen.

Tonband begint met een ritmesectie die aan Pornography herinnert en wordt verrijkt met vrouwelijke stemmen. Tijdens Mask (feat. Lisette Schoenly) worden de mannelijke vocalen in het Frans gezongen en de vrouwelijke vocalen in het Engels. Net zoals op het debuutalbum wordt er handig afgewisseld tussen Duits, Engels en Frans, wat zowel de sfeer als de variatie ten goede komt.

Niet enkel de teksten, ook de muziek klinkt gevarieerd. Trage nummers als L’Aurore en The Owles worden afgewisseld met een track als Lodged, dat het met zijn aanstekelijke synths ongetwijfeld goed zal doen op de dansvloer.

Factice Factory leverde alweer een sterke plaat af. Een heerlijke voortstuwende bas (denk aan Simon Gallup), koude synths en veel sfeer. Een donker, bij momenten zelfs claustrofobisch sfeertje. !Nada! bekoort. Ben je benieuwd of Factice Factory ook live kan imponeren? Rep je op 1 mei dan naar Kortrijk voor de Wool-E-Day, waar de band samen met Hidden In Treetops en de postpunkrevelatie Whispering Sons op het programma staat.
