GERMAN ARMY

Strangely enough the drone/ soundscape artists from GERMAN ARMY come from San Berdino County. The rhythmic percussive timbres and abrasive drones are completed with found audio, voices and dialogs unknown. It creates a somewhat distant, avant-garde atmosphere in which repetitive rhythms are completed with strange electronic sounds.

The songs of “Millerite Massai” are sometimes flirting with Eurasian rhythm influences. The mix of sanguine rhythms and cold, desolate soundscapes work wonderfully well. It’s a pity that most of the songs are in the same pace and in the same range of heaviness. More diversity would have been welcome. “Millerite Massai” is therefore a solid album filled with strange music, but lacks the absolute brilliance to surprise.
