EK Product keeps on besieging us with interesting releases. This time our attention goes out to Retrogramme (Washington DC) and their album “For Our Dearly Departed”: EKPCD009!
Rob Early (synthesizers and programming), Nikk Allen (primary songwriter) and Dmitry Pavlovsky (vocals) offer a sharp, varied, enthusiastic and “alternative” piece of work, difficult to categorize. They serve an “intelligent” mix of IDM, Synth-pop, Darkwave, Techno and Ambient, warm rhyhms and refined depth...
In my (not so) humble opinion the best songs on this album are “Save Without A Grudge”, “My Advice (Selfish Boy ReKonStrct), “Heaven Is Closer (Models & Machines Remix)” and “Cancer Remissed (Force Drift vs Retrogramme). Awesome stuff from a talented trio, able and willing! Lean back and enjoy, at maximum volume, of course!

EK Product blijft ons bestoken met interessante releases. Dit keer gaat onze aandacht naar “For Our Dearly Departed” van Retrogramme (Washington DC): EKPCD009 alweer. Het gaat snel luitjes …
Rob Early (synthesizers, programming), Nikk Allen (songwriter) and Dmitry Pavlovsky (vocals) leveren met “For Our Dearly Departed” een boeiend en gevarieerd werkstuk af, niet schatplichtig aan één (of ander) genre. Ze serveren een “intelligente” mix van IDM, Synth-pop, Darkwave, Techno en Ambient.
2 jaar noeste arbeid resulteerde in elektronisch gestuurde gekte, gelaagde dansmuziek met oog voor detail, warme ritmes, dartele tempowissels en verfijnde diepte, uw aandacht en uw Euro’s meer dan waard!
De beste songs zijn naar mijn niet zo bescheiden mening “Save Without A Grudge”, “My Advice (Selfish Boy ReKonStrct), “Heaven Is Closer (Models & Machines Remix)” en “Cancer Remissed (Force Drift vs Retrogramme). Fantastisch spul van een getalenteerd, gedreven en vaardig trio! Laat u diep in uw meest comfortabele sofa zakken, volumeknop vol open en geniet, vuist in de lucht en vrolijk meestampend op de vette beats (af en toe). Tja … ik ben niet zo’n danser.
