You may never have heard of Aleks Grey, but relax, that is about to change, because after Feel Alive, his second single Unstoppable is released, with which he tries to gain faim in the rest of Europe. Grey was born in Volda, Norway, started his career in musicals like Rent, West Side Story and Les Miserables, toured with Fame - The Musical and formed the band The Last Province with which he scored a big hit in its homeland. Since 2013 he lives in Liverpool where he formed his current band.

Unstoppbable is a spacious power pop song with the ambition to reach the top of the Euro Parade: melodious guitars, enticing drum tempos, vocals and choruses reminiscent of bands like Aha and Alphaville, but Aleks Grey dares insert fragile singer-songwriter-like passages as well, making the contrast between loud and fragile, between light and dark even more convenient. This is obviously incorrect music, but haven't you occasionally sung along with Forever Young or The Sun Always Shines on TV, while your parents were out shopping? We did!, and so Aleks Grey is OK, really OK even...

Van Aleks Grey heef u wellicht nog nooit gehoord, maar daarin komt nu verandering, want na Feel Alive, is er nu z’n tweede single Unstoppable waarmee hij het Europese publiek probeert te overtuigen. Grey werd geboren in Volda, Noorwegen, begon z’n carrière in musicals als Rent, West Side Story en Les Miserables, toerde met Fame – The Musical en richtte de band The Last Province op, waarmee hij een grote hit scoorde in z’n vaderland. Since 2013 woont hij in Liverpool waar hij z’n huidige band samenstelde.

Unstoppbable is een ruim opgezette powerpopsong met de ambitie om de top van de Europarade te bereiken: welluidende gitaren, verleidelijke drumtempo’s, vocalen en koortjes die herinneringen oproepen aan bands als Aha en Alphaville, maar Aleks Grey durft ook fragiele singer-songwriter-achtige passages inlassen, waardoor het contrast tussen breekbaar en luid, tussen licht en donker nog beter uitkomt. Dit is uiteraard heel erg foute muziek, maar brult u tijdens de afwezigheid van uw huisgenoten ook niet af en toe lekker mee met Forever Young of The Sun Always Shines on TV? Wij wel!, en dus is Aleks Grey OK, heel erg OK zelfs…
