MASSIMO DISCEPOLI

For the first time Massimo Discepoli brings an album in his own name. And it’s a gem.

Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Massimo Discepoli is one of those musicians you can’t place in just one category. He playes jazz, rock, electronic ‘club’ music, ambient, fusion,... Just the way I like it. Maybe you know him from projects like LED, Nunun, Nheap and so many others. This wide range of experience and eclectic choice of music is at the base of “Parallax”

On this album Discepoli chooses a more organic approach than in his other work. Although you could call it ambient, it is dealt with in an very personal way. Different compositional techniques are used in combination with an acoustic drumset. But it’s the way he uses it. He no longer uses it as a mere rhythmic accompaniment but it becomes a coloristic en even leading instrument but without losing balance.

This album is a real treat for musicians of all sorts and dreamers alike. The entire album has a great feeling of “openness”. It makes you wander off in dreams and subtle emotions. Without ever getting boring or predictable. This beautiful story told by a subtle combination of ambient and jazz makes you hungry for more.
