Vita Noctis is another belgian minimal legend, hailing from Vilvoorde and releasing two tapes and one EP. New work is doubtful but you can at least enjoy the old lofi sound of music recorded in a hay attic. True story!!! The first record is their first demo tape "In the face of death", the next one has both the second tape "Much money good boy, no money goodbye" and the 5 track EP. Clearly influenced by Joy Division, best songs are "Hade", "These Lies", "She Likes Me" and "Expose". The best discription I could give is early Neon Judgement with seductive, melancholic female vocals. There are a few good nice instrumentals/sound experiments like the loopy "Execution" with an old news bulletin on the background.

"On A Day Like This", singer Martine sounds a bit like Courtney Love, sultry yet oppressive. You have to love her accent! I like the tape version of "Expose" best, the EP version is sort of disappointing, losing the charm of the haystack I suppose... It's not a question if this stuff is still relevant, of course it's not! But it's part of underground history and anyone who digs that should be happy there's people churning out all these repressings. I only hope new artists don't have to wait twentyfive odd years for some recognision... Recommended!
