According to Tomas Pettersson, it is not a healthy attitude when to have too many expectations in life, simply because they usually end in sheer disappointment. Well, in the case of Ordo Equilibrio Rosarius, expectations exist, and how! The previous CD Songs 4 Hate And Devotion was the most accessible album and undoubtedly the finest. Vision: Libertine - The Hangman's Triad's is a new chapter in the 23-year career of the Swedish cult band, in which the recent sound is mixed with the old sound, or in another words: traditional neo-folk mixed with apocalyptic pop.

The band worked more than three years on this new album. Initially, Vision: Libertine-The Hangman's Triad was designed as an EP, but because the ideas kept coming, Tomas had enough material to fill two albums. At the end of the day Vision: Libertine - The Hangman's Triad became a double CD.

On the last album, Ordo Equilibrio Rosarius was nearly the perfect pop band, but the new one it’s something completely different. The music remains very beautiful and very accessible (although we wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic night out, on the other hand you never know), but all compositions are very dark and dominated by the tribal sounds that were typical of the old Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio sound. The band got the help of Sal-Ocin of Empusae, which you hear.

The band describes the sound on the CD as porn pop, glorifying nihilism with sex as the ultimate religion. Nice words, but how does it sound? Well, impressive. Vision: Libertine - The Hangman's Triad is indeed a far cry from the previous album, and maybe it is the darkest production ever released on Out Of Line. Bold? Be sure of that. Sublime? Yes, that too!

Volgens Tomas Pettersson is het geen gezonde houding om te veel verwachtingen in het leven te hebben, gewoonweg omdat die meestal puur op teleurstellingen uitdraaien. Nu ja, in het geval van Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio bestaan die verwachtingen wel en zijn ze bovendien torenhoog. De vorige cd Songs 4 Hate And Devotion was misschien wel het meest toegankelijke album, maar zonder twijfel ook het allermooiste. De nieuwste cd Vision: Libertine – The Hangman’s Triad is alweer een nieuw hoofdstuk in de 23-jarige carrière van deze Zweedse cultband, waarop het recente geluid met het oude wordt gemengd. Als je het niet snapt: gewoon traditionele neo-folk gemengd met apocalyptische pop.

De band heeft meer dan drie jaar aan deze nieuwe cd gewerkt. Aanvankelijk was het de bedoeling om van Vision: Libertine – The Hangman’s Triad een ep te maken, maar de ideeën bleven alsmaar komen en uiteindelijk had Tomas genoeg materiaal om twee platen te vullen. Dat ging uiteindelijk niet door, en Vision: Libertine – The Hangman’s Triad is een dubbel-cd geworden. Werd Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio op zijn vorige plaat net niet de perfecte popband, dan is dat op deze nieuwe plaat toch heel anders geworden. De muziek blijft ontzettend mooi en uiterst toegankelijk (hoewel we het niet meteen zouden aanraden voor een romantisch avondje uit, anderzijds weet je maar nooit), toch zijn alle composities ontzettend donker en worden ze gedomineerd door de tribalgeluiden die typisch waren voor de oude Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio. De band kreeg daarbij de hulp van Sal-Ocin van Empusae, en dat hoor je.

Zelf omschrijft de band het geluid op zijn nieuwste als pornopop, het verheerlijken van het nihilisme met seks als de ultieme religie. Mooie woorden, maar hoe klinkt dat dan? Nou, indrukwekkend... om niet te zeggen ronduit fantastisch. Vision: Libertine – The Hangman’s Triad staat inderdaad mijlenver af van de vorige cd en is misschien wel de donkerste die ooit op Out Of Line is verschenen. Gewaagd? Wees daar maar zeker van. Subliem? Ja dat ook!
