Darkher is in fact the alter ego of Jean H. Wissenberg from West Yorkshire. She releases an excellent EP that has a mysterious, angelic and dark atmosphere. Add to this her outstanding voice, and the result is just magnificent!

The EP starts with the dark track Ghost Tears: a touching intro, a raw guitar, a cello and vocals à la PJ Harvey. A more than perfect start. Hung takes you to a dreamy fantasy World, while Foregone is rather doomy (darkwave with a thrilling guitar, great percussion, a wall of sound and again that voice).

The title song The Kingdom Field is a fragile instrumental, and a perfect closing track for an EP that could have lasted longer. There is nothing wrong with this EP, it is a top release!

Darkher is eigenlijk Jean H. Wissenberg die uit West Yorkshire afkomstig is. Zij levert hier een prachtige EP af, met een geheimzinnige, engelachtige en donkere sfeer. Samen met haar fantastische stem is het eindresultaat ronduit schitterend.

De EP begint met de mooie donkere track Ghost Tears: een beklemmende intro, schurende gitaar, ronkende cello en een stem à la PJ Harvey. Een prachtig begin dus. Hung neemt je mee naar een zweverig fantasiewereld. Foregone heeft een doemsfeertje, darkwave met een onheilspellend klinkende gitaar, boeiend drumwerk en een meeslepende zang die in een muur van geluid verdwijnt.

Het titelnummer The Kingdom Field is een fragiele instrumentale compositie en de mooie afsluiter van een EP die gerust nog langer mocht duren. Je kan niks fout zeggen over deze EP. Alles zit goed in elkaar, prachtige zang, voldoende afwisseling... Een toprelease.
