The Vikings are from Russia! That is the impression you get when you see the cover of the EP. However, in terms of musicallity, Aleksey Solov’yev and Aleksandra Terekhi are oriented on the ethnic groups and cultures of Siberia. The music sounds bombastic with the use of keyboard and choir-like (background) singing. It works wonderfully well, because the three songs all have something special and appealing. Listen for instance to the cooperation between music (keyboard and percussion) and the good, convincing (male and female) singing during the second song, Distant Shore.
The use of the Russian language (translated in English in the booklet) creates an even more mystical atmosphere.
Three songs are not enough to get a really good impression. However, this EP however creates enough expectations to wait for more material of Birds’ Way.
