Hemgraven are back with a second wonderful release, titled Saudade. The sound is magic for me, with the energy of Associates, but with darker spidery guitars. The bass, particularly on the B-side, is very funky and goes superbly with the haunting synth lines.
The dual male vocals sound good with occasional contrasting harmonies. The songs are in Swedish, but they have enough poppy charm to fill the dance floor in any traditional goth night.
As an English speaker, I can’t help but wish I understood what Hemgraven are singing about. However, even in my ignorance its exciting and moving stuff from these Swedes.
The 7” is limited to 500 transparent copies or digitally through the bands own label Eldsjon.
